Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Donates Nearly 19,000 Pounds of Food

With the arrival of the holiday season, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa once again participated in the annual Helping Hands Food Drive to benefit Metropolitan Ministries.

In its fifth year joining iHeartMedia for the food drive, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa donated 18,835 pounds of food to the local charity which is almost 10 tons. It’s the equivalent of four Range Rovers.

The property initially gathered 4,500 pounds of food, before proceeding to stage a contest between departments to see who could gather the most food to donate.

Following round one of the contest, 7,113 pounds of food was donated and then round two produced an additional 7,222 pounds of food for donation.

Last year, the property donated 6,532 pounds of food following its holiday drive. It raised the bar this year with the goal of donating 10,000 pounds of food, which was easily surpassed.

Given Metropolitan Ministries’ needs, much of the food that was donated included canned goods, peanut butter, rice and other items along those lines. Metropolitan Ministries offers a wide spectrum of supportive services to alleviate suffering, promote human dignity and instill self-sufficiency.
