This month, get to know get to know Stefan Antonijevic, central defender and #5 for the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
How long have you been playing soccer?
I have been playing my entire life. When I was little my father placed a miniature soccer ball in my crib which contributed to my admiration and motivation to play. As soon as I was able to walk and run, I took up the sport
How do you like living in Tampa Bay?
I really enjoy it. I grew up in Chicago so I am used to a large metropolitan city. Tampa Bay has a lot to offer both in athletics and the community. It has really been growing on me.
As you know, we’re huge Rowdies. We even sponsor the jerseys you guys rock. Which one if your favorite style?
I love wearing our home jersey because it adds flavor to our uniforms. It has stripes and the green and the gold, which in my opinion makes it unique to Tampa Bay soccer. We also stand out wearing this jersey!
How do you feel about Seminole Hard Rock Tampa being your sponsor?
I think it’s awesome, not only because everyone knows Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, but also to be able to have Seminole Hard Rock Tampa on our jersey as a partner and as a community organization that believes in us is huge. We’re a strong team and we’re fortunate for the collaboration.
Aside from the Tampa Bay Rowdies what is your favorite professional soccer team?
I have two favorite teams. The first is my home team back in Serbia, the Red Star Belgrade. The second is my personal favorite, Juventus, which is a professional Italian association football club based in Italy.
