Happy Veteran’s Day 2018!

“On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free.”

We salute our troops, active and retired, for their valor and commitment to America’s safety. At Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, we are year-long supporters of our troops and military family. With over 3,000 employees, many of our team members are active, reserve or retired military–including one of our very own team member of over 10 years, current Table Games Supervisor and Tampa Hard Rock Guy, Paul Phan who has served since 2008. Check out his story below.

Phan was working as life-guard at our hotel pool, when he met a guest who was a helicopter pilot for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s department. After networking with him and going on a passenger flight, Paul fell in love with aviation reaping the rewarding feeling of doing something greater than yourself. There, he decided to pursue that love in the Coast Guard.

In 2008, Phan began active duty in the United States Coast Guard as a Cutter Rescue Swimmer and a Boarding Officer. He continued his journey to specialized as an aircrewman on Coast Guard Helicopters doing search and rescue, and joint Homeland Security operations and patrols.

Over the years, Phan has transitioned over into the United States Army and is currently attending the Commissioned Officer Candidate School program out of Camp Blanding, Florida.  He will commission as an aviation officer to coordinate and lead operations using Army helicopters for the Florida Army National Guard.

“To me I will always look back and ask myself if I could’ve done more. Done more in school, for my family, for my community, for the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, etc. My military career has always been a backbone to all aspects of my achievements, giving me confidence to continue to do more and take on bigger and better responsibilities throughout my life”, says Phan.

Support for our troops spans beyond Veterans Day. This month, we are selling our November Charity of the Month bracelet that is available at the Hard Rock Cafe shop and The Rock Shop for $5. One hundred percent of the proceeds made from the sale of these bracelets benefit the charity, who supports military families. Learn more about the charity here: http://bit.ly/2Dojn1S

It is our honor to employ active and retired military. With these team members in mind, we installed a Military Appreciation wall to show our appreciation for all who have served our country. Honoring all branches of the military and naming all of our team members and their corresponding department, this is only a small token of appreciation for all of the sacrifices and bravery of our military family. Thank you!
